Lincoln Stoller Interview, Woodstock Radio 100.1 FM (podcast)

2 hour interview with Shelli Lipton & Nathan Koenig of the Woodstock Museum

This interview was aired on July 1st, 2022 on WDST - Radio Woodstock 100.1.

In this interview we addressed culture, learning, and personal growth.

The interview is 2 hours long; I begin speaking at minute 6.

I lived close to Woodstock, NY for 25 years. I first met Shelli and Nathan when I helped bring the traditional Mongolian musical group Badma Khanda to tour and teach around 2005. We hosted a weekend workshop on Mongolian Throat Singing in The Colony Cafe, in Woodstock, NY.

The band was a star attraction at the May Day celebration at the Rokeby Estate, on the Hudson River. We slaughtered a sheep in the Mongolian tradition and created from it a feast for 100 guests. In the evening various local musicians performed, including Bhadma Khanda and Steve Gorn.

The band subsequently toured with Roswell Rudd and, with Roswell, produced the album Blue Mongol. Bhadma Khanda has not returned to the US, but has since become famous in Siberia. I’d like to take my son to visit them.

That has nothing to do with this interview. I just thought I’d mention it.
