There are two editions of my new book, Operating Manual for Enlightenment; Recreating Your Mind. The first is longer and self-published, the second is 10% shorter and will be published by Universal Publishing. Publishers believe shorter books generate greater sales in the self-help genre.
The Operating Manual ties together awareness of your neurology, your body, and your cognitive self-awareness. For most of us the neurology is obscure, the body is removed, and the mind is layered in habits and learned behaviors. But there is a synergy in these; they enlarge together, and greater awareness in one fosters greater awareness in the others.
The book combines experience, thought, and emotion to bring the reader to a deeper sense of purpose. Purpose is built from needs informed by personal, family, cultural, and genetic dispositions. The book's central message is that you gain control by becoming aware. Expanding awareness requires expanding all of these together.
Other books take an idealistic, theoretical, clinical, or magical approach. Operating Manual is a pragmatic integration of brain-state training, neuropsychology, altered states, hypnosis, and psychotherapy. Follow its path and you will make progress.
The extra chapter in the first edition is called “Healing,” and contains a 35-minute hypnotic induction titled “Changing.” The induction is linked to an MP3 file so that you can listen to it rather than reading it. The same recording is offered in this post.
“Changing” illustrates how perception grows from imagination. Perception creates moods, moods create emotions, and emotions create personality. It illustrates topics discussed in the book, but even without reading the book, if you deeply relax, you will be affected.
